Alipore (pronounced Aalipore) is a village near Chikhli, Bilimora in the state of Gujarat in western India. The village is on the Indian National Highway 8, which leads to areas such as Ahwa via Waghai and Vansda, and to the hill station of Saputara. The population is mainly Muslim, with Hindus forming the majority of the rest. The main language spoken in Alipore is Gujarati, whilst English and Hindi can be understood by most. GENERAL Alipore is a village in Chikhli Taluka of Navsari District in the state of Gujarat, India. It is approximately 236 km from Mumbai, 25 km from Navsari, and 55 km from Surat. It is well connected to nearby towns by National Highway no 8. Alipore was once well known for producing a handcrafted local cloth call Khadi, which was later replaced by electric hand looms producing fine cotton cloth. The village has a few stone quarries supplying mine stone for construction and road works. Alipore has a big dairy plant called Vasudhara Dairy run by the milk co-operative of the Valsad and Navsari districts. == Landmarks == Alipore has some wonderful landmarks. There are at least five Mosques (for the Muslims), a Mandir (for the Hindus), a well equipped General Hospital, two Islamic learning centres i.e. Darul uloom and a High School. ALIPORE SOCIAL WELFARE TRUST's ALIPORE HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE serves biggest hospital for nearby villages. Vasudhara Dairy (Valsad District's Milk Producers Union Ltd) is a dairy cooperative in India, headquartered in Alipore, approx 3 km from Chikhli. It produces and markets milk and ghee (clarified butter) for the local market under the Amul brand name. Its current capacity is 4 lakh litres per day. LANDMARKS There are at least five Mosques, a Mandir, a Full Fledged Hospital. two Islamic learning centers i.e. Darul Uloom, Bank, Post Office and a Primary and Secondary High School. MASJIDS There are five masjids in Alipore. The Jumma Masjid, which has recently been totally renovated, dates back to several hundred years. The other area masjids in Alipore include the Laher Mohalla Masjid, Gajaria Masjid, Khambia Masjid and one which is located on the outskirts of the village (Pardar). DARUL-ULOOM There are two Darul-Uloom in Alipore. The Hidayatul Islam Darul Uloom is in the heart of the village. It was established about 50 years ago. The other Darul Uloom is in Khambia. Both provide Aalim courses and Hifz classes. EIDGARH There is an Eidgarh facility in Alipore. This is an open area used for Eid salaah. People from surrounding villages perform the Eid namaaz at this Eidgarh. HOSPITAL Alipore has a General Hospital which is located ideally on the National Highway. It was established on 4 June 2001. This hospital provides facilities for ICCU, Trauma Care, 24 Hrs Emergency, General Medicine, Cardiology, Nephrology & Dialysis, Surgery, Orthopaedic, Dental care, Maternity, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Ear Nose & Throat (ENT), Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Colonoscopy, Pathology, USG Ultrasound Sonography, Radiology, Gastrology, Laparoscopy and Arthroscopy and 24 Hr C T SCAN services. The Alipore Hospital is run by the Alipore Welfare Trust. Hospital Campus also has a Prayer Hall, Nursing and Paramedical Institute, Canteen, Chemist and Morgue. The hospital is run by Alipore Social Welfare Trust with many welfare schemes. Hospital Campus has more than 150 Drs and Staffs. First Campus to have an Elevator and CCTV Cameras in Alipore. BANKS AND POST OFFICES There is a post office together with a bank in Alipore namely the Bank of Baroda. They attend to the financial matters for the people of Alipore. EDUCATION FACILITIES The village presently has one primary school and a secondary school named K and B High school. The High school has an enrolment of about 885 learners. WATERWORKS Alipore has two main water works. One is situated in the centre of the village and the other in the Karolia Maholla. There is a further water purification plant using advanced filtration technique, which supplies clean water for both drinking and domestic use to every household in the village. CEMETERIES There are 3 cemeteries (kabrestans) in Alipore. The main kabrestan is situated in the outskirts of Alipore adjoining the Vasudhara Dairy. The other 2 are smaller kabrestans and are used only occasionally. QUARRIES The stone quarries in Alipore supply material for construction and road works. VASUDHARA DAIRY Alipore has a big dairy plant called Vasudhara Dairy. It is run by the milk-co-operative society Valsad and Navsari districts. It employs more than 1000 people. It collects milk from the surrounding villages. The dairy produces over 300 000 litres of milk per day which is packaged in cartons. It also produces ice cream, butter and other dairy products. It has branches (ice cream manufacturing plants) at Nagpur and Boisar. Amul Ice Cream produced here is marketed to Mumbai and Maharashtra markets. Alipore has good road system with access to a major highway in India. National Highway 8 passes from Alipore. There is a clean running supply of water to almost every household in the village. Public transport around the village is via buses and trains. There are also taxis and rickshaws to take one around the village. Bilimora is nearest railway station of western railway, and Bilimora-Waghai narrow rail passes through Alipore and has small station called Chikhli Road. The main bus station hub is in Chikhli which is about 4 km south on National Highway 8 The nearest international airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (formerly Sahar International Airport) in Mumbai, Surat Airport (Gujarati: સુરત વિમાનમથક) is a nearest domestic airport (IATA: STV, ICAO: VASU), located in Magdala, near Surat in the Western Indian state of Gujarat.
